About the current exhibition:
The works to be exhibited vary in their content. The artists examine themes of power and desire, family and memory, disappearance and immigration, the slave trade, the language of signage, the intersection between life, art, entertainment and politics, as well the effects of global communication on society.
The artists represented in this exhibition reveal that the art being produced amongst the Latin Diaspora in the United States far exceeds descriptions of jubilant folkloric works often used to pigeonhole Latin American art. Instead, they distinguish themselves as dynamic and complex cultural producers who stand outside any previously established conventional frameworks.
